The Bashan Kennel Shelter needs:
money to help provide food, shelter and vet care for the animals;
donations of food and crates or cages; foster and adoptive families.
The Bashan Kennel was founded by a handful of volunteers in 1993, and
is the only shelter serving needy animals in the entire Galilee and
Golan region.
The group was struggling to provide for 200 dogs and 50 cats at their
shelter. However, since the rocket attacks began, the number of
animals needing daily care has nearly doubled as some 200 dogs and
cats abandoned by fleeing civilians were rescued and taken in by
Bashan Kennel.
Each day more abandoned and frightened pets are being found. Led by
Bashan Kennel shelter director, Janet, volunteers travel daily --
under rocket fire -- to the evacuated neighborhoods of Kiriyat Shmona,
Metullah and other towns and villages. Animals that can be caught are
brought back to Bashan Kennel. Volunteers leave behind food and water
at central feeding stations for the rest.
The financially stretched rescue group is collapsing under this
tremendous burden. Without your help they will no longer be able to
provide for these desperate creatures.
The rescue work of Bashan Kennel shelter survives entirely on private
donations. All funds serve the animals directly. The shelter is run
strictly by volunteers who receive no salary or benefits. They receive
no funding from the local or federal government.
The animals caught in the crossfire -- and those trying ro rescue all
of them -- need your assistance today. Please help. Every donation
counts.
